NORMAN McLAREN

One of the most influential artists I've come across this year. He makes films about expression, mood feeling, colour, and he was the first to take animation in a different direction from the pipeline workflow.

Kaj Pindal told us about when he asked his uncle why didn't he work for Disney during the 30's who replied
"you can't make art in factories."

His medium was 35mm film which he drew on, scratched and even made music by physically attacking the sound row in the film

One of the best short films I've seen is "A Chairy Tale" 1957
he gave a chair a personality and performance
