Painting Project 1

Our painting prof's awesome and really relaxed, and we've been learning how to emphasize the focal point pushing contrast (both value and colour), hue intensity and lines of action

Layout Homework Assignments: learning how to draw!

draw some chairs
 now put figures in them

(wait how do people sit exactly?)

now have to characters interacting

draw a Dodge Charger 1966 and a 67' Mustang from Bullitt

now add a figure for scale

I've been studying how to draw and not just getting them done....but then again I haven't really gotten any finished.
I'm glad I've been learning so much, but half of that should be applying it in more complete drawings; making a statement after I've collected the subtle details.

Next step: pushing camera angles, applying solid drawing to interesting compositions, and clean up

Haven't posted in a while, lots has happened. I broke my toe, possibly one of my fingers on my drawing hand, started to enjoy animating, Disney bought Lucasarts, haven't really slept since Thanksgiving.

All of our teachers this year are great and at least three of them I find awesome and Peoter is one of the greatest teachers and role models I've had. I love his approach to teaching, almost coaching, each class i leave uber motivated and ready to take on the world. He's getting us to practise our fundamentals of drawing, basic perspective etc. build up a library of props, furniture and vehicles to populate our environments, and exposing us to culture and film throughout the ages.

Abstraction and imagination
+realism as a tool perspective to ground and define space and solidity, to make sure statements win the audience's understanding through clarity
+exaggeration as a knob to crank and distort
+caricature is extracting the purest form of reality
+abstraction can distil what is real and bland to a frame of what is needed, emphasized, or a pure emotion

Storyboards 'After the Bath'

StoryBoarding Assignment 1

Pitching's a lot of fun, I had an awesome time coming up with the ideas for Hector Protector and After the Bath poems.

After boarding I found I was really struggling with basic perspective and composing shots, I'm working on that and character posing on the next assignment, which isn't as strong storywise as this.
